It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.
It's Lutheran Schools Week! I teach at a Lutheran school, and we always spend one week a year celebrating what makes Lutheran schools so awesome. We also do a lot of goofy things, like dress mismatched and play Wacky Olympics. It's essentially like Homecoming week in high school, but I think it's even more fun. We started today with the teachers making a pancake breakfast for all of the students - and we all got to wear our pajamas to school! :) Any crazy happenings for anyone else this week?

The Castle of Llyr by Lloyd Alexander (I'm definitely rediscovering my love of this author by rereading his Chronicles of Prydain. I may just do a whole year of rereading his books!)
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy (Getting closer every day! 945 out of 1,361 pages read!)

I went to Catholic school growing up and we always had Catholic schools week, but I don't remember doing any fun stuff like that! Enjoy the week, it sounds great :) :) What grade do you teach, by the way? (If you don't mind sharing!)

I teach fourth grade. It's so much fun to just be silly with the kids once in awhile. :)

I've been trying to get my son into the Wilder books, but he hasn't given them a try yet!

I didn't really like them when I tried them as a kid, but I'm certainly enjoying them now!

All of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books make me hungry but I remember Farmer Boy always was a little more upscale with everything including their cooking. :)

Upscale is a good word to describe it. Must be their proximity to a - gasp! - town. :)

I've never encountered a Lutheran school before, I didn't realize they existed. Must have been a fun week, I don't recall getting to do anything fun for a whole week when I was in school! :)

The week was a lot of fun. It gives us a chance to be a little silly and celebrate all the reasons why our Lutheran schools are awesome. :)

War and Peace must take up a lot of your reading time.

I hope your week has been good.

I just read 15 pages of War and Peace a day, so it's really not too bad. It usually takes me 20-30 minutes, depending on whether it's dialogue or denser text. Little by little seems to be the only way I'll get this giant book read. :)

That is great how well you are doing with War & Peace!

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
