This weekly chance to add to your reading list is once again hosted by Book Journey (yay!). Head over there to check out everybody's links!
The first week of school is complete! It went very well, and I'm looking forward to week two! This weekend was fun, but far from relaxing - a local town's festival, a wedding, and a birthday party. Whew!

What I Read Last Week

The View from Saturday by E.L. Konigsburg (I love this Newbery winner.)
Emma: A Modern Retelling by Alexander McCall Smith (Wasn't as terrible as I feared, but it wasn't great, either.)

What I'm Reading Now

Emma by Jane Austen (Last week of the read-along!)
House of Living Stones by Katie Schuermann (This is a book about people who work in a Lutheran church, and since that describes most of my book club - including me - we decided this was a perfect pick for this month!)

What's Coming Up Next

Dragon on Trial by Tui & Kari Sutherland (I've been waiting to get my hands on this book for a long time. Now I just need to actually read it before it's due at the library!)

I've been interested in reading Alexander McCall Smith's Emma just because I like his No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series but I just haven't gotten around to it yet because I was so afraid of being disappointed. :(

I haven't read anything else of McCall Smith, although I've wanted to. I actually think I would have liked it better if I hadn't just read the original. I remembered too many details, so I was able to be pretty critical. It still wasn't as bad as I feared it may be, though.

Wow that is a seriously busy weekend!! I am glad you made it through the first week back at school - it is always the worst!

How fun you were at Greenfield Village the other weekend! My husband and I love it there - we live about 15 minutes away and it is a nice way to spend a quick few hours outside. The Fall Flavors Fest is coming up - that is always our favorite weekend there.

Yup, after the first week, the rest of the school year seems to just fly by!

I have actually never been to Greenfield Village before, but it was such a fun place to explore! We will definitely be going back someday!

Are you going to review the Smith version of Emma? I'm curious to hear what was good and what didn't work!

I'm hoping to review Smith's Emma, but I guarantee nothing! ;)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
