This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.
I actually got a chance to sit down and read for almost two hours this past Saturday! My husband gave me a "day off", and he took care of our little guy all day. I had forgotten what it felt like to get stuff done! I got the bathrooms cleaned, boxes dealt with, bookshelves rearranged - and I still had time to read and sip hot chocolate in the afternoon. That day was exactly what I needed!

What I Read Last Week

The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom (This is a wonderful book, especially if you're a music person. It's narrated by Music, so it has a similar feel to The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Very satisfying read.)

What I'm Reading Now

A Walk Through Wales by Anthony Bailey (This is the third stop on my Circumreading the World tour. I am greatly enjoying this one.)
The Iliad by Homer (I have to admit, I've pretty much lost the thread of what's going on. The gods keep getting involved, and there are lots of people fighting and dying. I may need to check out some Cliffs Notes when I'm all done to make sense of what I just read.)

I think my daughter said that you should read The Odessy first... I think that is what she said. Maybe it was the Iliad before The Odessy... Oh, I can't remember but I know she said they were good books. She's kind of a book geek. :) I have read one other Mitch Albom books and I really enjoyed his writing. So glad you got a day to do what you wanted. More fathers should be so engaged!!!
Hope you have a great week!

I would probably follow the story of The Iliad better if I wasn't reading just a small chunk a day. It's pretty easy to lose the gist of the story line. I hope to read The Odyssey, too, someday. I'll have to try something different than what I'm doing with The Iliad, for sure! :)

Ooh, The Iliad! I took a Greek mythology class back in high school. I loved it! I need to pick up copies of The Odyssey and The Iliad. Greek mythology is why I love the Percy Jackson series so much. I tried out Rick's Norse book and just didn't dig it like the Greek ones. Have a great week reading.

The Iliad would be fun to study in a class where you could discuss it and learn more of the historical background info. I missed out on that experience in high school! :)

I was surprised how much I was able to fit into the day! It was great! :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
