I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, spending time with family and friends. But most importantly, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

What I Read Last Week

Where We Belong by Lynn Austin (This was a really enjoyable read.)
The Slave Dancer by Paula Fox (Another Newbery winner. I taught this one when I taught sixth grade, so it was interesting to revisit it just to read it.)

What I'm Reading Now

The Maiden's Bequest by George MacDonald (This is my yearly George MacDonald Holy Week read. It's a slow, savoring sort of read, so I didn't quite make it during Holy Week, but I should finish it up soon.)
Daniel Deronda by George Eliot (I'm on page 504 out of 710.)

What's Coming Up Next

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart (This is one I've been hearing lots of good things about - and I just recently bought books 2 and 3 - so I finally decided to read book one!)

I'm so curious to see how you like the Benedict Society series -- I keep debating if I want to give that one another go or not :)

Happy Easter to you (a bit on the late side...). I think you've seen my opinion of the Benedict Society by now, but the bottom line is that it was good, but there are a lot of "better" middle grade books out there. If it didn't float your boat, there are plenty of other fish in the sea! How's that for mixing metaphors? :)

Yay for Jasper Fforde!! I haven't read any by Francine Rivers yet, but I have one of her books on my TBR list. I'll get to it one of these years. ;)

I'm glad I'm reporting weekly progress on Daniel Deronda. It doesn't feel like much only reading 5-10 pages a day, so it's nice to see it add up! Hope you had a great week!
