What I Read Last Week
What I'm Reading Now
People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks (I just started this one on audio yesterday. This is my first book by this author. I've heard good things about her books!)
This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. It was a fun, but busy, week last week. My college roommate visited for a couple days. She lives in Florida, so this was the first time she got to meet my little guy. I loved watching him get to know her. However, he seems to be teething in earnest now, so he's been pretty cranky. Hopefully those teeth will show up soon! What I Read Last WeekThe Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker (This was a hauntingly beautiful book. Such a unique premise and atmosphere. I will definitely read other books by this author - as soon as they're published!) What I'm Reading NowGod's Bestseller: William Tyndale, Thomas More, and the Writing of the English Bible - A Story of Martyrdom and Betrayal by Brian Moynahan (I have to admit that I'm finding the chapters on the development of the English language more interesting than the hunting-the-heretic chapters. I'm such a nerd.) People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks (I just started this one on audio yesterday. This is my first book by this author. I've heard good things about her books!) What's Coming Up NextThe Fifth Avenue Artists Society by Joy Callaway (I picked up and put down this book twice at the library before finally deciding to take it home with me. It looks so good!)

Not all books work for everybody, but trying it on audio is a great idea. It would be an interesting book to read on audio! :)

I really like People of the Book and thought it was fascinating the way she traced the book through time. If you like her writing, my favorite was Year of Wonders, but I could never get in her book March. And I also loved The Golem and the Jinni. Great choices for a reading week!

The narrator of People of the Book is impressive. So far, she's done German, Albanian, Bosnian, and Australian accents!

The teeth seem to be taking forever to come in, but I think we're finally getting close! :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
