This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.
The weather is finally spring-like, which means all sorts of fun things are reawakening. The daffodils are almost blooming. Our brand new grill is being broken in. And we took our first walk to the local ice cream place yesterday, where we had to wait in line for twenty minutes. I guess we weren't the only ones with that idea!

What I Read Last Week

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry (I haven't read this one since I was a kid. It's still powerful.)
Milk Glass Moon by Adriana Trigiani (I just love this series and these characters. It feels so real.)
Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan (I finished this one through the Serial Reader app, then when I pulled the physical book off my shelf to check how many pages it was, I discovered that I had only read half of it. I guess I'll have to finish the second half in my physical book before I can officially cross this one off my Classics Club list.)
100 Cupboards by N.D. Wilson (The writing is this one is wonderful. And the plot and mystery will keep you reading to the very last page!)

What I'm Reading Now

The Penderwicks in Spring by Jeanne Birdsall (This is such a delightful series!)

What's Coming Up Next

Tolstoy and the Purple Chair: My Year of Magical Reading by Nina Sankovitch (Because books about books are the best.)

We loved The Penderwicks too! I chuckled though when my son got grossed out by the kissing in the later books. It's good to know I don't have to worry about that quite yet!

That's funny - and good to know that you've got a while (hopefully a long while) yet! :)

I enjoyed Tolstoy and the Purple Chair on audio! 100 Cupboards I think I might eventually try. And Number the Stars I think I will read soon since I have a copy :)

I really enjoyed 100 Cupboards. I think it will be a good one to read to our little boys as they grow up!

I loved the 100 Cupboards but didn't enjoy the sequel. I've read Penderwicks in Spring but it was the only one I've read — one of these days I'll go back and read the others. It's Monday, What Are you reading?

It would be interesting to read Penderwicks in Spring without the background of reading the others in the series first. I hope you decide to check out the others - they're wonderful! :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
