This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.
Well, it's 4:00 on Monday afternoon, and I'm finally able to get this post up. My little guy had a cold last week that he has decided to pass on to me. Saturday was a crazy day hanging out with family and attending the Detroit Auto Show. Thankfully, Sunday was a lazy, stay-at-home day and I was able to relax and get some reading done for the 24 in 48 Readathon!

What I Read Last Week

Blue Latitudes: Boldly Going Where Captain Cook Has Gone Before by Tony Horwitz (This was the penultimate book for my Circumreading the World challenge, and I loved it!)
Hook & Jill by Andrea Jones (Okay, I didn't technically finish this book. This was my Blind Date with a Book pick from my local library. I ended up DNF'ing it after 100 pages because it just wasn't holding my interest. Ah, well.)
Chronicles of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery (One I somehow hadn't read yet by one of my all-time favorite authors!)

What I'm Reading Now

A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron (Our book club book for February. We're going to go see the movie, then discuss over supper!)
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (66% complete. It's getting creepier.)

What's Coming Up Next

Further Chronicles of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery (There's just something about winter that makes me want to live in Montgomery's world.)

It is so hard to not pass around colds and stuff with a little one involved! I hope you are feeling better soon!

Are the Chronicles of Avonlea connected to the Anne of Green Gables series? Believe it or not, I still have not read that series despite hearing so many good things and it being a favorite classic of sooooo many people and I know I am missing out. I do have them though, so some day!

You have to read Anne!!! Make this year be the year! :)

The Chronicles of Avonlea are a collection of short stories set in the location of Anne of Green Gables, but not really involving her.

Thankfully, the cold seems to have been short-lived, and we're all feeling much better now. Now we just have to make it another month or so, and we'll be out of cold season!

I'm going to try! I should at least get around to the first book since I have it on audio, though I do think I'll want to keep going :)

We just got over our shared cold here too. Lol. I feel like vaporizers and nose Frida's are the best inventions ever.

I really need to read Montgomery. I can't believe I never have read her before. Have a great week!

Montgomery's world is so simple. It's the perfect escape. :)

I'd be good if I never had to use the suction thingy again, but I know that's not going to happen!

I love LM Montgomery. I need to read/reread more by her. I say that every year, but she always falls to the wayside. Hope you get over your cold soon!

I always make it a priority to start my year with an L.M. Montgomery reread or two. It's just a pleasant way to embark on a new year! :)

Oh gosh, I hope everyone in your house gets healthy fast! It's just no fun when it keeps getting passed back and forth.

This is the first time I've heard of The Chronicles of Avonlea! I had no idea there were stories set there.

Thankfully it was a pretty short-lived cold, and we're all (pretty much) healthy again. Hopefully we can stay that way for the rest of the season!

The Chronicles of Avonlea are a bunch of short stories set in Anne's world, but they don't really involve Anne. They're a lot of fun to read!

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
