This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.
Saturday, I got to participate in a really fun experience. My church hosted an event called Walk, Learn, Pray on our local Rail Trail. My station was to teach about the Michigan state symbols (did you know we have a state fossil?). The weather was 80 degrees and sunny (What, Michigan?!). And when nobody was walking by my station, I got to sit and read a book. It was such a fun and peaceful afternoon!

Minders of Make Believe: Idealists, Entrepreneurs, and the Shaping of American Children's Literature by Leonard S. Marcus (This was a thoroughly fascinating book.)
Dicey's Song by Cynthia Voigt (I really enjoyed this Newbery book.)
Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin (I loved this one just as much as I expected to!)

What I'm Reading Now

The Unseen Guest by Maryrose Wood (This is the third book in The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place series, and it's just as delightful as the first two so far.)
Utopia by Thomas More (Chipping away at my Classics Club list. Hooray for the Serial Reader app!)

The Book of Laughter and Forgetting by Milan Kundera (Isn't that a great title?)

I've been meaning to pick up The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place - third book in, you must be enjoying the series.

It sounds like you had a fun weekend, I hope that continues into the week!

The Incorrigible Children is such a fun series. I definitely think you should give them a try, Jade! :)

I'm so grateful I read this post. It made me go look up the serial reader app and I'm downloading it as I type. It looks like just the thing to get me through War and Peace and some of those others I've been putting off.

I'm glad I could help! The Serial Reader app is the only way I have a chance of getting through the rest of my Classics Club list by next year. Enjoy! :)

That even sounds really great! My church is actually doing a “long walk to water” fundraiser on our local rail trail really soon. It’s inspired partly by the book of the same name by Linda Sue Park (which I highly recommend if you haven’t read it yet!)

Minders of Make Believe is definitely going to be a library borrow for me soon — going to try to read some of my other books about books from my shelves first though :)

I've heard a lot about Linda Sue Park's book (even listened to a podcast on it), but haven't actually read it yet. I'll have to get to it soon. Your church's event sounds really interesting.

Minders of Make Believe is definitely up your alley, but good for you for prioritizing books from your own shelves! :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
