This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
We finally had our first snow day of the school year this past Monday! It was a wonderfully relaxing day, complete with a walk in the snow, hot chocolate, and lots and lots of reading. An unexpected day off is always a nice surprise (especially when it includes reading).

The Disappearing Spoon and Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements by Sam Kean (Long enough title for you?)
Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis (Loved this book, as always!)
Little Men by Louisa May Alcott (I've read Little Women several times, but this is the first time I've ventured into the sequels. What a delightful book!)

What I'm Reading Now

Picture
Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens (Since Dickens' birthday was on Saturday, it seemed a good time to read this book.)

What's Coming Up Next

The Yellow House by Patricia Falvey (I haven't quite decided on my next read, but this one seems likely.)

Not sure it's to my taste but I LOVE the cover of The Yellow House! How eye-catching!

Little Men might be my second favorite of Alcott's work. I still like Rose in Bloom better. You can see my week here. Happy reading!

I agree - I read Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom a lot more than I did Little Women. That's probably why I'm only getting to the sequels now. :)

I enjoyed Little Men, Prince Caspian, and Oliver Twist. Never heard of the Disappearing Spoon or The Yellow House.
Currently I am reading Mansfield Park and A New Song.
As much as I would enjoy a "snow day" I don't want the snow! :) LOL! Glad you had a day to enjoy!

Ooh, Mansfield Park. That's my second favorite Jane Austen book (after Northanger Abbey). I hope you're enjoying it!

I've read the Little Women books about a hundred times. They are some of the few books from childhood that I still have.
I love in your description that you say your shelves smile!

I definitely have books from my childhood that I've read about a hundred times (Chronicles of Narnia comes to mind). I can't believe it's taken me this long to read the sequel to Little Women, considering how much I enjoyed the first book as a kid!

I'll definitely be continuing on to Jo's Boys. I'm eager to see how these characters grow up!

I love Oliver Twist! One of my favorite Dickens novels. I wrote a paper on it in grad school, and it was so much fun delving into the book and its history. It's such a great novel!

I haven't read much Dickens yet (reading Great Expectations twice for school kind of ruined it for me). I'm really enjoying Oliver Twist so far, and it's good to hear that others love it as well! Hopefully this book salvages my opinion of Dickens. :)

Snow days are awesome- we need more (just maybe not the snow!). Caspian, I remember that one and love those classic cover too. A set with the old cover is a great thing! :)

I love snow, although I would prefer it to be 70 degrees out while it's snowing. :) That Caspian cover is the one I grew up with. That makes rereading it just that much better!

I found The Disappearing Spoon fascinating! It combined two of my favorite things - science and random facts.

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
