It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I love living in Michigan, where we have four distinct seasons. What I don't like so much is this in-between season time. Nearly sixty degrees one day, but thirty degrees and snow the next. So confusing and hard to plan ahead. But at least those occasional warm days mean spring is not too far away!

What I Read Last Week

Surprised by Oxford by Carolyn Weber (This was a wonderful memoir of finding faith and love at Oxford University.)

What I'm Reading Now

The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo (This book is gorgeous and so good!)
Tribute to Brunei and Other Poems by John Onu Odihi (Onto the next country for my Litsy Passport Challenge.)
Daniel Deronda by George Eliot (I'm on page 325 of 710. Should be over halfway by next week!)

What's Coming Up Next

Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck (I really liked Steinbeck's writing in The Grapes of Wrath, so I'm looking forward to this one.)

The weather is much the same here in upstate(-ish) NY -- We were at the park all week and then had a snowstorm on Friday...with another one coming this week -- but yes, the signs of spring are peeking through!

I love to see the green things starting to pop up, but I know they'll probably be buried in snow at least once more! :)

The Language of Thorns looks interesting. I'm reading a huge pile, of course, like always, but most intriguing right now is Wodwo by Ted Hughes and Poisonwood Bible by Kingsolver.

That sounds like the crazy weather we're having in New Jersey. Every time I start to think about which veggies I want to grow this year, they forecast another snowstorm!

The Language of Thorns really does have a beautiful cover. I have to confess I've never read anything by Leigh Bardugo...maybe I should start with that one!

I just laugh when I see the plant displays in the grocery store. I know I won't be planting anything yet! :)

The Language of Thorns has a very fairy tale feel.It's six short stories. Her Grisha trilogy is more plot-based. I've loved everything I've read by her, so I'd recommend giving her a try!
