Because I'm nerdy and I like numbers, here are some stats about my shelf-reading venture:
Back in January, I asked for your help. I was determined to read all of the books off of one shelf in my library. I've only read about half of the books I own, so I thought this was a good way to get a few more knocked off that list. I asked you, my lovely readers, to choose one shelf for me to read. You picked Shelf #2, and here it is: I finished the last book I needed to read precisely one week ago. Hooray! That's more than a month before my goal, even! Because I'm nerdy and I like numbers, here are some stats about my shelf-reading venture: I was pretty curious to see how well I do at picking out books I'll really like. Half of the books got 3-star ratings. But there was only one book I didn't really care for, and five 4-star ratings! Not too bad. :) This was a lot of fun and definitely something I will do again. My hope is do this every January through June until my entire bookshelf has been read. For right now, though, I am happy to say that my pick-a-shelf goal for this year is complete!

This is a cool idea! Do you have your books arranged in a particular way? If I did this, I'd end up having to read a ton of one kind of book (all fiction or nonfiction) so I have my TBR separated out. But it's such a good idea, especially for tackling some of those backlist books that just get forgotten about.

I try to group books by the same author together, but that's about as organized as I get. The shelf I read was mostly fiction, but it had a couple of nonfiction books mixed in. Maybe you could purposefully mix up one of your bookshelves in order to do this. :)

Love this idea! I have been marginally successfull with my TBR shelf this year, but I feel like I need to weed through them as some just don't interest me anymore.

There were a couple books on this shelf that I couldn't figure out why I had bought them in the first place. Maybe I should have weeded through them first, then read everything that was left. . . I'll try that next time! :)

I'm doing a similar summer challenge with my TBR books from my shelf. I'm curious what the one 5 star rated book was.

Good for you! I found that challenging myself like this really kept my motivated to read from my own shelves. The five-star book was Walk the Lines by Mark Mason. Great for anyone who likes England or random trivia! :)

Sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out. I earned the London Underground badge on FitBit when I walked 250 miles. It would be cool to read more about actual London. I've never been there. It's on my list of top 5 places to go. I'm just waiting for my son to be a little older. Leave a Reply. |
My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
