I recently passed a pretty big milestone in my challenge - my first 100,000 pages. I thought this was a good opportunity to check in with everyone else and see how you are doing.

Hello, all! Not quite two years ago, I challenged myself to read one million pages in my lifetime. That's a rather large number. And then I decided to open the craziness up to all of you to see if anyone else wanted to join in the fun. Quite a few people did! Wow! Good for you. How are you keeping track of pages read? That sounds like a lot of work. :)

Thanks! I have a spreadsheet where I keep track of the title, author, and number of pages. My computer whiz husband set it up so it automatically adds up the pages for me. There's a link to it on my "Other Reading Challenges" page, if you want to see it for yourself. :)

This is a fun idea! And mega-impressive that you've hit 100,000! I keep track of my pages read, and this year I'm just under 20,000. I've read 78 books, which is very high - most years I only read about 80 - this year is more because I've been unemployed thus far. So 78 is a good yearly average, which means 20,000 pages a year would be good for me. It would take me 5 years to get to 100,000, and 50 to reach a million! Very fun to think about - maybe I'll start tallying them up at the end of every year too in my yearly reading recap. :D

It is a big goal. But hey, you know you're going to be reading your whole life, so you might as well keep track, right? So far, I've read around 40,000 pages a year, but I'm sure I won't be able to keep that up forever. It's good to have long-term goals, right? ;)

I have been posting my progress every month on my night stand post. I am not that far. It is a rather huge challenge that will take most of my lifetime to complete. :)

I removed myself from the blogging community for a while (formerly Life's Open Pages) but I'm getting back in to purely book blogging again. I've been catching up with your posts, which I've been enjoying, but had to stop and comment on this one - what a great milestone! You are doing great!

Jade, I'm glad you're back! I've been wondering where you disappeared to. I'm looking forward to catching out your new book blog. :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
