2016 Second Quarter Wrap-Up

Halfway through 2016 already! I'm quite curious to see how my numbers turned out for this quarter of the year, since I had a baby during it! So far, my reading hasn't suffered too terribly much, I don't think - mostly thanks to the wonder of audiobooks!
Books read: 36
Pages read: 9,307 (This is mostly due to finishing War and Peace at the beginning of April.)
Fiction: 67%
Nonfiction: 33%
Male authors: 33%
Female authors: 67%
Books I own: 19%
From the library: 81%
Audiobooks: 28%
Favorite books this quarter:  My nonfiction selection would have to be Among the Janeites by Deborah Yaffe. Lots of Jane Austen love, and it's just a fun book. Fiction is going to be a tie between The Midnight Queen by Sylvia Izzo Hunter and Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger (which, by the way,, is awesome on audio.)
Reading Challenge Progress
Read the Books You Buy   4/15 read - current percentage is 27% (20-40% is my goal)
Show Your Shelves Some Love   10/30
Little House Read-Along   6/12
Newbery   17/30 points
European   4/5
Nonfiction 12/10
So my take-away from this is that I need to read more books that I own. My library use has gone way out of control! Which is actually the opposite of what I expected to happen when I had a baby. . . Strange. On the plus side, I've listened to 10 audiobooks this quarter, which is about as many as the last three years combined.

All in all, I'm pretty pleased with how this quarter has gone. How is your 2016 reading going so far?

I listened to five audiobooks in June and I am pretty sure that is a new record for me. lol I don't usually do these types of posts, but I am trying to blog a bit more... Maybe I should post something. :) Hope the second half of the year treats you well!

I always love reading people's wrap-up posts, especially if there's stats. I'm a little nerdy. :)

I found that I got lots of reading done actually with a new baby! All that time where you are rocking/holding/feeding a little one make for good reading.

The Etiquette and Espionage series looks so fun. I'm hoping to read it soon!

Yup! I just have to make sure I have my book within reach before I sit down to rock or feed. Otherwise, I'm very sad. . . :)

Audiobooks are indeed a wonderful invention! Awesome quarter. I'm about to take a closer look at my stats for the year as well :)

I was really surprised by how much I've read this quarter! Now we'll see how it keeps up as my little guy gets older. . .

It has definitely been interesting for me as mine is getting older. So many things, like reading, were easier than I expected early on and now things just feel like they change by the month! He's mobile, he's vocal and that definitely makes things challenging at times!

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
