What I Read Last Week

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain
The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge (How did I miss this book as a child? I'm so glad I finally discovered it!)
The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate

What I'm Reading Now

Spilling Clarence by Anne Ursu (I loved Ursu's Breadcrumbs, so I'm hoping I'll enjoy an adult novel by her.)

What's Coming Up Next

Good question! I'm not sure, but it'll be something I own that's been gathering dust on my shelves. Isn't that a lovely feeling? To enter a roomful of books with no obligation or list. Just to pick whatever I feel like reading next!

How did you like A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court? I read that last year and I enjoyed it... it was different then what I expected. :)

I'm still formulating my thoughts to write a post about it, but I totally agree. Enjoyable, but not at all what I expected!

I've heard great things about The One and Only Ivan. I hope you enjoyed it.

I really relate to the joy of picking a book from your own shelves. I actually schedule it in so that I read some of my books in the midst of all of the library and review books!

The One and Only Ivan was awesome. A fast read, yet powerful.

Scheduling in a read from your own shelves is a great idea. Otherwise, those book get way too neglected!

All of these look great! I read A Connecticutt Yankee years and years ago. All I remember now is that I liked it and there was something about an eclipse. Funny, the things that stick with us! Enjoy your week!

I remembered the eclipse thing, too, although I had no idea that it came from this book. It's strange how some things enter our culture, and then we forget completely where they came from in the first place!

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
