This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.
Friday was Library Day, and once again, I was pretty pleased with myself. I walked out with only one book for myself - 100 Cupboards by N.D. Wilson. I had been planning to get that one going in, because I had just listened to an episode of the Read-Aloud Revival podcast with him on it. But I resisted the urge to bring home any other books! (I did add a couple to my Goodreads to-read list, though, for future library visits.) And of course, we left with a huge stack of picture books, but that doesn't count. Once again, I am on track for reading books from my own shelves for the next month. Yay!

My Recent Post

Recent Classics Club Reads

What I Read Last Week

The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde (This is one of my favorite books ever!)
The Whole-Brain Child by Daniel J. Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson (I've been reading this one sporadically over the past few weeks and finished it Friday. This was exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for in a parenting book - practical techniques backed up by research. So helpful!)

What I'm Reading Now

Cascade by Lisa Tawn Bergren (This is even better than the first book in the series. I'm devouring it!)
Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan (I should be finishing this one up sometime this week.)

What's Coming Up Next

Picture
Number the Stars by Lois Lowry (Other than a couple of this year's winners, I haven't read any Newbery books yet this year. Time to remedy that!)

Yes, she is! I hadn't read Number the Stars since I was a kid, so I was glad I finally revisited it.

I read Number the Stars in grade school and definitely want to re-read it for the Newbery challenge. And Whole Brain Child has been requested from my library -- thanks again for the recommendation!

I hadn't read Number the Stars since grade school, and it definitely held up to what I remember. I'm glad Whole Brain Child is helpful for you!

I always leave the library these days with an armful of picture books and one or two for me. I used to leave with an armful for me too, but no more. I have added The Whole Brain Child to my library holds - looking forward to reading it!

The bag I bring to the library is always so bulging with picture books now that I have to carry separately anything I'm getting. That tends to cut down on my desire to load up. Unless I just bring another bag... :)

I hope you find The Whole Brain Child helpful!

Thursday Next is such a fun protagonist! I think I still have a few in that series to read; I should get on that!

I loved Number the Stars as a kid. Is it your first time reading it?

Yes, Thursday Next is so fun! I've read the first four several times, but the last three only when they first came out, so I'm looking forward to revisiting those.

I read Number the Stars as a kid, but I didn't remember much about it. I really enjoyed it this time around!

I ADORE the Thursday Next books and am really craving a re-read of the entire series. However, I'm waiting (very impatiently) for the final book to be released, so that I can re-read all 7 in preparation for that. But it's taking so long - I wish there was news!

It would be fun to binge them all right before the last one is released. If only that would actually happen one of these years! :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
