What I Read Last Week
Crispin: The Cross of Lead by Avi (Impressively researched!)
This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. The holiday craziness is beginning, but I love this time of year anyway! Our church's Christmas concert was yesterday. I direct one of our children's choirs, as well as the adult handbell choir. I also sing in the adult choir, so it was a pretty busy concert. But it was tons of fun, and it's a great way to start this Christmas season - by remembering why we celebrate this holiday in the first place! It's an incredible book so far. I can't believe anyone has lived through what he did!

Georgette Heyer is a great author to treat yourself with. My favorites are These Old Shades and Devil's Cub. Here is my week. Happy reading!

I've read These Old Shades, but not Devil's Cub. I have yet to read a Heyer book that I haven't liked. Her books are so much fun! :)

I read Crispin a few years back when I was doing the Newbery challenge (never finished!) and I liked it very much.

You can just tell it was really well-researched. I always enjoy historical books more when I feel like I'm learning something about the time and place. I'm glad you enjoyed it, too!

I agree! It's nice to retreat to a quiet corner and read during this busy season! :)
