What I Read Last Week
The Tale of Applebeck Orchard by Susan Wittig Albert (This series just keeps getting better and better!)
This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. I read totally outside of my normal reading habits this week. I started The Little Book on Sunday. I was really enjoying it and wanted to read it slowly and savor it. Then we had Monday off of school, and I knew I would spend lots of time reading. So I switched over to The Tale of Applebeck Orchard - much lighter, a nice quick read for a snow day. But at the end of Monday, I was in the middle of two books. Ah! I'm very monogamous in my reading. This was quite weird for me. I ended up taking turns by day (The Little Book on Tuesday; The Tale of Applebeck Orchard on Wednesday, etc.). I finished one on Friday night and the other Saturday morning. Whew! Now I'm back to a much more comfortable one book at a time. I'm a one-book-at-a-time reader too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I just can't keep track of plots and characters well enough if I have too many books going. I'm glad to be back down to just one! :)

I have a Susan Albert Wittig book on my tbr pile and it's great to see one mentioned here, and to read that you are enjoying the series. I hope I get to reading it soon. I also have The Little Book and will go read your review now. Happy reading :)

Susan Wittig Albert has written a few series. I haven't read anything in any of her other series, but I really like the coziness of these books. I hope you enjoy your book when you get a chance to read it.

I'm like you - it feels so strange to read more than one book at a time! I used to do it all the time in undergrad and grad school because I had to, but I've totally gotten out of the habit, and now it feels weird to start one book if I haven't finished the one I'm currently reading. :)

Exactly! It was a hard decision to start another book before I finished the first one. And it was even harder to decide what to do the next day. I think I'll stick with one book at a time from now on. :)

Applebeck looks good and of course, Dawntreader will be [nice to accompany with a reward like a movie night of same - works well for me] . Your Regency fits in well with the giveaway and a couple reads I just finished. Enjoy :)

A movie night reward is a great idea (I'm not very fond of the recent Dawn Treader movie, but it's a good idea for other books)! It's always fun to see another interpretation of a book we've read.

I used to be a strict one-book-at-a-time girl but now I pretty much maintain 4 at a time. I'm not sure what happened. They have to be very distinct though. My "real" book for daytime reading (usually fiction), an audiobook (my choices are usually pretty fast-paced), non-fiction before bed, and something on my nook at the gym (also has to be pretty mindless). It works for me!

Four? Wow. I'm sure it helps that they are very different. That's about the only way I could keep track of them all. :)

I'm typically very much a one book kind of girl, but this year has definitely seen that change. I like it in a sense but at the same time I'm like 'argh, decisions' what do I read when I want to read. My reading this year hasn't been all that great and I think it many be down to this fact... I'm hoping to change this in March and see how it goes. I haven't sat down to read as much and I know I miss that!

I know what you mean. Sometimes when I feel like reading, I'm just not in the mood for the book I'm in the middle of. Maybe switching to a new book would be better than reading the current book, anyway. Might have to experiment with that... Hope your reading life gets back to normal! :)
