Now this is some summer weather! It's been in the mid-80s or low 90s for the past couple of days here in Michigan. I need to soak all of this up to get me through those negative degree winters!

My Recent Posts

Books Make the Best Souvenirs (my vacation haul from my visit to the Strand in NYC)
My Thoughts on Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Saturday Snapshot - Fourth of July in Washington, D.C.

The Crossover by Kwame Alexander (This book made me cry, and that doesn't happen often!)
The Cracks in the Kingdom by Jaclyn Moriarty (Just as good as the first book in the series.)
Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth (Book club book for the month - our meeting is today. This was more than I even needed to know about having a baby, but I really enjoyed the book!)
Hoot by Carl Hiaasen (I don't know how I missed reading this one earlier. What a fun book!)
The Last Bookaneer by Matthew Pearl (Book pirates!)
A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan (Fresh twist on dragon literature.)

What I'm Reading Now

Emma by Jane Austen (Because of vacation, I'm rather behind in the Emma read-a-long hosted by You, Me, and a Cup of Tea. I'm trying to catch up!)
The Royal We by Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan (I'm indulging the Anglophile in me this week!)

What's Coming Up Next

Ohhh, I'm planning on rereading Emma for Austen in August - I missed seeing about the readalong.

I keep wondering if I should try Meet the Midwife...so I will check out your review - thanks.

Ohh I just spotted that you've been reading the Moriarty Cracks in the Kingdom series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, but haven't had a chance to try the second. I'm delighted to see the Moriarty sister's doing so well in the US :-)

I didn't realize they were sisters. That's awesome! The Emma readalong just started a couple of weeks ago, if you still wanted to join in. :)

Lol... I never got the impression that it was more than I needed to know about having a baby while watching the show... but the again I'm a nurse and I love midwifery. I can't wait to read the book!

I have a feeling the book is a bit more descriptive than the show is allowed to be. Now that I've read it, I can finally watch the show!

I've heard The Royal We is a ton of fun.

I have to say, after reading Emma, that cover is really not how I would picture her! Are you enjoying it, though?

The Royal We is awesome. I devoured it. Honestly, I wasn't thrilled with that cover of Emma either, but it was the best I could do from the many choices on Goodreads. The book, as ever, is wonderful! :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
