Saturday Snapshot [Florida]

My husband and I had the opportunity to travel to Florida over New Year's to visit friends.
We spent some time wandering through Lettuce Lake Park, which had a boardwalk around a lake. It was so beautiful (and wonderfully warm, after December in Michigan!). We also made a friend - everyone should see an alligator on their first day in Florida!

We spent New Year's Day at Universal Studios. And we headed straight for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We saw the part of the park that had Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. It was amazing!

Looks like you had a great time! We visited Universal many years ago when the big deal was the Back to the Future Ride. We had a great time. Looks like they've made a lot of changes since then! I love the "snow" on the buildings--quite a contrast to the tourists walking around in shorts and t-shirts in Orlando's warm winter temperatures.

We thought the snow looked pretty funny in the warm weather, too! :)

I would love to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Looks like you had an awesome trip - glad you got to experience a little warmth and sunlight!

I soaked up all the sunlight I could - and then came back to the week of negative wind chills. :) I hope you get a chance to visit the Harry Potter stuff someday. It was awesome!

Is Lettuce Lake Park part of the Everglades or have I got my US geography completely wrong?
I have a dream to ride on the hovercrafty boats there one day :-)

Harry Potter World looks incredible, but busy!

Lettuce Lake is closer to Tampa. The Everglades are farther south. I would love to visit the Everglades someday. I didn't know they had hovercrafts. What fun!

So jealous you went to Harry Potter World and had a Butter Beer! Were they lovely?

Great pictures :)

The Butterbeer was delicious! Harry Potter World was crowded, but a lot of fun. I loved living in Hogsmeade for a little while!

2 very different parks, while I like the second, I think I'd enjoy the first one more. I really like your second picture, it looks like looking up, and looking at reflections.

Thanks. We got to Lettuce Lake Park right at sunset. It added such a pretty light to everything.

Thanks. It's probably stereotypical to want to see an alligator when you visit Florida, but I was glad we got to see one - and that he posed so nicely! :)

It sounds like a great little holiday and a wonderful way to spend New Year's Day.

Great pictures too. I remember when I visited Florida - many years ago now - I was scared by all the lizards about, never mind getting the close to an alligator!
