All right, I think it's time to dive in and join the Classics Club. I've been compiling my list for awhile now (you can see it here), and I somehow ended up with 51 books instead of 50. Oh, well. Just one more great book to read! I love reading classics, but I don't always have the motivation to pick one up instead of an easier fiction read. That's why I'm glad there is a whole club full of people to encourage me along!

I'm also willing to add some classics to my list. Are there an amazing books out there that I'm missing? Any suggestions?

We have a lot of the same books! So glad you decided to join. You can see my list at my blog and each title that I have read is linked to my review. I have been to the extreme working on my classics list as I have not read much else. I am going to be changing that. I requested a few new books to review! :) Happy reading!

Wow, 100 books! You're more ambitious than I am. I wish I could put Jane Austen on my list, but I've read her books so many times, I don't think it would count. :) You'll love Lewis' Mere Christianity. One of my favorite authors!

Lot's of interesting stuff on the list. You should have a great time.

I counted, and I have read 23.5 of them. (I read the portion of Canterbury Tales that I had, which wasn't complete.)

I assume that there are many others that you already read, but I can't resist a few suggestions:

1. You need something by Anthony Trollope. The Warden followed by Barchester Towers would be a good place to start.
2. If you haven't read Crime and Punishment, that should be on the list too.
3. Don't forget some P. G. Wodehouse ;) You need something light to balance out the heavy ones.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've read a few of Trollope's novels, but I don't think I've read either of those. I have read Crime and Punishment, and I even liked it (though I still don't know why). And I love Wodehouse! I can't believe I left him out. What a great idea!

Have you read Tristram Shandy?

How about The Egoist?

I am thrilled to find another Trollope reader. Usually people just give blank looks when I mention him.

I have not read Tristram Shandy or The Egoist. Those are two good suggestions. I think I need an auxiliary list or the Classics Club Round 2!

I definitely enjoy reading Trollope. I just found all 6 of his Palliser series at a library book sale this summer. I was so excited, but even the librarian gave me that blank look that you mention. They don't know what they're missing!

If you have not read Gone with the Wind, I would suggest that one, :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.

You can contact me at julie@smilingshelves.com.
