Top Ten Theursday - Series I Want to Continue

This weekly frenzy of listing is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
In keeping with my post last week called How Do You Read a Series?, in which I bemoaned the fact that I am terrible about finishing series, I decided to tweak the topic of this week's Top Ten Tuesday (or Theursday) post. Instead of talking about ten series I've been meaning to start, I'm posting about ten series that I've read the first book in, but somehow haven't made it to the second book yet. I have an equally long list of series where I've read the first two or three, but not any farther. And an even longer list of series that I want to start, but I feel like I should tie up some of these loose ends first. I may have a problem. . .

I should look at my shelves and see how many of these I have! But I'm a little afraid of how many... I'd like to think I don't leave too many series hanging, but I have plenty in progress. And I will concede that this happens most often when I read #1 for book club. Even when I am interested in reading on, they just seem really hard to get to.

I can see how book club books would be harder to continue with, especially if it wasn't a choice you were particularly excited about in the first place.

I only own one of the books in my post (The Hidden Gallery), but I can't decide if owning them would make me get to them faster or not. There are just too many books out there to read! :)

I will say I'm pretty good at purposely stopping at book 1 if I'm not really into the book club book -- I'm not compelled to see what happens just because I started. It's when I do enjoy it that I run into trouble... a good chunk of my partly read series are ones where I went and bought the later books after book club...and there they sit...

For me, sometimes I think owning them makes me LESS likely to read them! Something about them always being there and feeling like I could get to them "anytime" and not having a deadline to be returned -- which runs pretty counter to the whole idea of reading the book because, you know, I actually want to read it and think I'll like it enough to want to keep it. The ironies of a bookworm! :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
