Top Ten Tuesday - Bookish Resolutions

This weekly frenzy of listing is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
I'm really not a big resolution-setter, but I have had success with the New Year's resolutions I have set on my blog in the past. I even posted about a couple of these successes last week. As mentioned in that post, I'm going to try to continue with those two resolutions (so most of this list might sound familiar if you are a regular visitor to my blog). But I am adding one new bookish resolution this year.

My New Year's Resolutions

- Comment on at least 5 blogs a week.
- Limit myself to buying an average of 5 books a month (yearly total is not to exceed 60 books).
- Start recording quotes I like from books I read. I've never really done this, but I would love to have this record of my reading. Now I just need to figure out how to make this feasible for me. Any tips from any of you quote-writers?

It is so funny, I just posted about my resolutions last night - I had no idea it was the Top Ten for today.

I like your idea of recording quotes - I love them and try to keep them as well. Usually I go old school and write them somewhere. In high school, I had notebooks just filled with quotes that I liked. Now, they are usually sprinkled in among my journal pages. I know you can track them on Goodreads too. I think?

Goodreads sound like a great idea. I didn't think of that one. I love the physical act of writing, though, so a notebook is very intriguing as well...

Good luck with your goals, Julie, and the best of new years to you!

I'm the same as Erin, I make note of book quotes in notebooks - I like that it's kind of 'old school' now.

Happy New Year to you, too, Jade! I like the idea of having a special quote notebook. Now I just need to find one I like...

I started a quote journal a few months ago and I'm loving it! I resisted the urge to start by adding a bunch of long-standing favorite quotes and instead am using it to write down quotes as I read books going forward as a sort of reading record. But you don't have to do that if you don't want to :)

I had a lot of leftover notebooks from my school days, but I purposely chose a journal that I like the look of and that I feel will make a nice keepsake. It's not too big, not too small and sort of looks like a book! I got it as a gift and sort of forgot about it until I was riffling through all my stationary "stuff" looking for something to use.

Whatever you decide, good luck with your goals and happy quoting :)

I'll probably have the most success if I spend money on a special notebook. That way I'll have motivation to use it until it becomes habit. I like the sound of yours - it sounds just perfect for this! :)

Oh my goodness, I am a quote person. Before ebooks, I would just mark the pages and then, after finishing the book, type up all the quotes I liked on the computer. Well, I only did it sometimes since it was a lot of work. But that's one of the things I love about ebooks---I can highlight, and Amazon saves the quotes for me! Unfortunately I have no real tips for physical books.

I'm not big on resolutions either, but this seems like a good list!

Ebooks would certainly make this easier! Maybe one of these years I'll actually convert to an ebook reader so I can keep my resolutions. :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
