Top Ten Tuesday - Ten Bookish Things I Want to Quit

This weekly frenzy of listing is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Tough topic, this one. I love reading. What could I possibly want to quit about it? Something tells me I may be surprised. . . Let's give it a try. I want to quit:
- Buying books I will never read.
- Letting books I want to read languish on my shelves while I read library books.
- Feeling guilty about not finishing a series (or five).
- Setting a daily page goal for myself - and feeling bad when I don't reach it.
- Choosing to play games on my phone instead of reading.
- Stressing myself out over finishing all of the reading challenges I over-committed myself to.
- Over-committing myself to reading challenges.
- Keeping books on my shelves that I've already read and know that I will never reread.
- Buying only from the bargain shelves at Barnes & Noble, instead of springing for the full-priced book I really want.
- Stalling on starting a Little Free Library. I've got two bags of books ready to go. Let's do this!
So, basically my list boils down to the fact that I want to quit feeling guilty about reading. Who knew I had so much that I could feel guilty about? So I'm done feeling guilty. I'm ready to take back the enjoyment!

Great goals! Good for you. There is no room for guilt in reading. I can't wait to see pictures of your little free library. What design are you planning on using?

I haven't got quite as far as the whole design stage. . . Still working on that! :)

I keep a lot of books I don't really want, I really should donate them. And those Free Libraries, I think those are such a great idea!

Wanting to start a Little Free Library has helped me get some of those books off my shelves. They're not mine anymore, but I haven't technically given them away yet. . . :)

Wanting to start a Little Free Library is such a great thing - I hope you're able to achieve that in the future.

Also, procrastinating when I could be reading is something I do ALL the time (instead of game, Netflix is what gets me) and then when it comes to the end of the week and I've barely finished one book I think, why?!?!

Netflix can definitely be dangerous! There are some evenings I just crash in front of the TV instead of reading. Must resist! :)

I would have to agree with most of these! I too am guilty of overindulging in bargain books which probably is a big reason for having books languishing on my shelves! I'm trying to cull, donate, etc. But I still have a lot of work to do...

A friend of mine runs a Little Free Library and just think they are such a great idea...if you really want to do it, go for it and good luck! If I recall correctly, I think she even did a Kickstarter to help fund it. Any extra money donated was held for buying used books if they were running low.

Yeah, with the way my shelves are, I think I'll have an endless supply for my Little Free Library. That is - if I can convince myself to get rid of some of these books! :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
