This weekly chance to add to your reading list is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.
So I decided to sign up for the Make Me Read It Readathon last week, which is a readathon in July where you get to vote on what I read. I am now mildly obsessed with checking the voting results, looking several times a day to see which book is in the lead. If you would like to encourage my obsession (and please do), vote here!

The Penguin Lessons looks fun!!! If you get a chance, try to visit the new penguin exhibit at the zoo - it is really neat!

I loved The Long Winter - it is one of my favorite of her books. There is a book called The Children's Blizzard that is nonfiction about that very same winter - I read them one year back to back. It was interesting - and sad, the non-Laura Ingalls Wilder version.

Have a great week, and enjoy that little guy!

Oh, and I voted! What a fun idea!

I really want to get to the new penguin exhibit. It looks awesome! Hopefully we can go when my little guy's a little older.

Thanks for voting! :)

What an interesting variety of books! It has been many years since I read the Little House books. Farmer Boy is still my favorite. I wasn't a big fan of The Giver and never read any of the other books in the series. I hope you enjoy the finish. Come see what I read last week. Happy reading!

This is my first read through of the Little House books, and I'm really enjoying it. Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of The Giver, either. The second book in the series, Gathering Blue, is my favorite so far. We'll see if the last book changes that! :)

Haha -- it is hard to not check on the results -- I'm just too curious too to see what's in the lead too!

Glad I'm not alone. I refuse to admit how many times I've checked today. :)

I haven't read Son yet. It didn't exist when I read the rest of the series and I just haven't got to it.

I didn't realize Son was that much newer than the rest of them until I started reading it. It's good so far! :)

I really liked Emma and Otto and Russell and James. I hope you will tell us how your book club discussion goes!

I love the idea of people voting for you next read. That's so fun!

My book club (except for me) doesn't seem to be big on magical realism, so they weren't entirely sold on Etta and Otto and Russell and James. We still had a great discussion, though! :)

Are you listening to the Stephen Fry HP audios? I'm loving my Harry Potter reread via audio. What's great as well is that they are child friendly, so often times I can listen to it whilst toddler is pottering about.

I hope you enjoy all your reads :-)

My library has the Jim Dale version of the Harry Potter audios, but I'd love to try Stephen Fry's as well, just to see the difference between the two! :)

I did not know there was a different narrator in the UK and US editions! I just went down a bit of an internet rabbit hole looking into it further... I haven't listened to the full Jim Dale books, but bits and pieces when in the car with my husband and he's in the middle of reading one of them. And while they are not bad by any means, I'm not in love with the narration. Stephen Fry's seems very appealing to me though! Perhaps I will splurge on the audio CDs from Book Depository when they are reissued with new cover art in the fall :)

My name is Julie, and I own a lot of books. As in, they are stacked on the floor because I've run out of room on the shelves. And those shelves? There are so many books on them that they smile -- not sag; smile. This blog will cover book reviews and all manner of other bookish things.
